The ‘Home Truth’ is, if we don’t save and celebrate our own history, nobody else will.
Thanks to National Lottery players, the National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded women-led not-for-profit creative community organisation Platform Thirty1 a large grant to work with resident collective ‘Greater Creative’ and the wider ex-industrial community in Blackwell parish to preserve their histories on their terms!
Our blog serves to show some of the snapshots of this journey. Alongside this blog, you can explore the website where more information can be found about us and the themes that are bubbling up on our quest.
Here’s a bit more about the nuts and bolts of what Home Truths will be doing:
Voices of Blackwell Parish:
We’ll collect and produce oral histories, including curated walks along the ex-industrial trails, creating podcasts and audio resources
Participatory Programme:
We’ll design and create opportunities to get involved and engage with local heritage via events, workshops, exhibitions and/or installations Roots 2 Routes: create more content for a smartphone app, that will store digital assets including oral histories and tours around Blackwell parish on an interactive map that can be used by residents, visitors and local schools
Explore and Test:
Learning about applying our model to a nearby community or two ….
And no doubt many other wonderful other things that emerge through the co-design and delivery process!
We look forward to hearing from you and hope you will get involved in the project too!
