The late Alec Freeman of Newton shared the register of the Sunday School fof the 1920s and we have the opening page and the first registrations shown here; There are too many pages to include all here, but if anyone wishes to see more of the entries, they are available. The register appears to span the period of 1920 until the early 1930s although there is one entry for 1945.
They are a useful resource for family histories as they show the names of the children enrolled, their ages, parents and street addresses. These addresses are of special interest , giving names of strees and lanes no longer in existence..Shooters Row, Victoria Terrace, Morningstar Terrace etc. which are remembered, but where were Redfern Cottages?
The Church Room building was brought to Newton from Clipstone Army Training Camp in 1919, so the Sunday School opening fits with that date.
