Architecture Watercolour Workshop – Katie Cresswell.

On Saturday 26 July, local residents were invited to spend the morning creating watercolour paintings under the fabulous instruction of local professional artist Steph Coley.
We met under the beautiful tree canopy, across from the church where Steph had arranged a selection of art resources, inviting everybody to create their own grab bag of pencils, paints, sketch books and other useful resources.

After an initial introduction by Steph on how to effectively use the art materials, residents were invited to choose their own space within the grounds/inside the church. With camp chairs in hand, everybody chose to draw and paint outside, with the fabulous paintings showcasing a variety of architectural or nature subjects.

It really didn’t matter if people had not drawn or painted since school days; everybody was positively encouraged to just have a go.
Our feedback shows that participants were drawn to the workshop by a combination of the activity and the location and the artist leading the session. Most had been to other Greater Creative sessions in the past.
It was so lovely to see friends and family members having a go together. Comments received in feedback showed that it was a relaxing, friendly session.

Thanks to Barbara for incredibly tasty refreshments and the best lemon drizzle cake I have ever tasted, and to Steph for making everybody feel at ease and welcome to the event. I look forward to working with you again.
