Thomas Shaw
Thomas Frederick Shaw was born in Sutton In Ashfield in 1857, and married Sarah Ann Whetton in 1878. They had 3 children: Mary Elizabeth (1879), Clara Ann (1880) and Eva (1887). In 1881 the family were living in New St Sutton, and Thomas was a Grocer, but by 1891 they were living with Sarah Anns mother, and Thomas had become a coal miner. Following the death of Thomas, Sarah Ann married John Barker, himself a widower.
Daughter Mary Elizabeth (1879) married Herbert Townsend at St Mary’s, and they had 5 children: Thomas Alfred (1903), Herbert (1908), Mary Elizabeth (1911), Eva (1916), and Lillian (1922).
Clara Ann (1880) married Frederick William Tyler in 1904 and by 1911 they had 2 sons, Cyril (1904) and Albert (1907).
Eva ( 1887) married Albert Singleton in Nottingham in 1915, and they had 4 daughters: Olive (1916), Lillian (1920), and twins Madge and Eileen (1924).
